Hi, it wasn’t a problem, per se, is the way things are saved into the database.
When I am one Pro is activated, two rows are created in the options table: optionsframework_iamonepro (all theme cstomizations like logo, favicon, I am one Pro sections) and theme_mods_iamonepro (menus already asigned, widgets etc).
All the settings for the theme go there.
When creating a child theme and activating it, wordpress creates two new row for the theme which are clean optionsframework_childthemename and theme_mods_childthemename.
What I did was to activate the child theme so that these two rows were created, then disabled the child theme again (wasn’t sure if I would modify them while it was active), copied the values from the rows for I am one pro and used them to do an update on my child theme option rows, then I reactivated the Child Theme and everything that had already been set up on the parent them was there on my child theme 🙂
Apparently there is another way, you can customize the name of those two variables in functions.php so that the child theme uses the same options name as the parent theme instead of creating new ones, that way if you switch between the parent and child theme all the options are retains because it is really using the same options. But I went the other way and it worked.
Hope this helps

Okay cool. Do share what was the problem or how you fixed it.
Regards,
Shri
When I already had the theme set up I created a child theme for some customizations but that means I lose all the configuration I already had, menus, front page, etc. Is there a way get the settings into the child theme? Thank you
OK. I give you the rights.
But look at the css file in the child-theme (ichnatur) at design/editor!!! I made many(!!) adjustments, that you have to consider. Please don’t edit or copy anything without asking me. OK? 🙂

You can customize the theme in itself by changing the folder name to version2.0 or something. No need to develop the child theme as we donot force updates via WordPress admin and only email about theme updates. So its upto clients to download the fresh theme and re upload.
We don’t want to break anyones website.

Shri
Hello,
what is the preffered method of making customization in your themes? Do I have to make a “themename-child” folder? If so what files should I put in that folder?
So, I’ve got the WordPress side of my site all tricked out and looking awesome with this theme. Â I’m wondering how much you would charge for a matching MediaWiki theme (preferably using BootStrapSkin as a base). Â That’s more than half of my site, and I’d really like the transition from one part to the other to be less jarring.
On a side note, I’m using a Child of SKT Full Width only because I can’t help but tinker some, and I’m not using the theme entirely as originally intended.
My site can be seen at rpgwiki.us and rpgwiki.us/wiki

Hi Jake,
Child theme is not necessary because we don’t automate our theme updates and if there is a major roll out ask clients to manually download the theme and update it.
Because many clients do lots of changes in their themes and if we automate problems arise.

should i make child theme for this website? Â If i change the css will it change when i update in the future without child theme? Â if i do make child theme, will i lose what i have already done? Â is there a way to prevent that loss if child theme needed? Â and finally if i work in child theme, what is the custom css to change those things for contact form.
Can i call you now to discuss?

Hi Jake,
No need to create child theme and no need to set up using front page template.
All you need to do is go to Settings>Reading and select Show latest posts. It will automatically show the sections on the home page.
If you still have problems just send us the WordPress admin details via email: [email protected]

That did not work because there is no Front Page template. Â I have purchased Pro and created a child theme but still have no front page template.

Hello
I bought SKT Full Width Pro and I created a child theme. With the child theme, the slider on the homepage doesn’t work… What can I do ? It works with the parent theme… Do you have any idea ?
Thanks
