Today we are going to conduct the interview of Muntasir Mahmud from Bangladesh. He is a Certified Codeable Expert Developer. he has more than 9 years of experience on LAMP Stack. he had previously worked in ThemeFusion as a support staff which is the maker of Avada Themes. In this interview, he mentioned that he is been working on WordPress from last 10 years.

Hi,
This is Muntasir from Dhaka.
I’ve been working on WordPress for more than 10 years till today.
It’s the bread and butter for me.

I started since my first year in University as a Freelancer in Upwork.
Content writing is something that I was good at back then and that got me started easily, wasn’t that easy to be completely honest. 🙂
Later I moved to Development and WordPress initially which I think was the best decision in my life.

I currently work as a Freelance WordPress Expert in Codeable.
I’m the co-founder of a startup named Exclusive Addons which is an Elementor Addon bundle.
I was fortunate enough to contribute in WordPress core in 3 consecutive versions including the Major 5.0

Q. How did you get to know about WordPress? Share if there is an interesting story.

Ans: While writing content or blog posts I had to browse a lot of Websites. And sometimes needed to sign up or log in.
Every time I hit the login/sign up button a “Volkswagen” logo comes up. I was quite sure it was not “Volkswagen” but it looked like one.
After quite a bit of annoyance, I figured it’s called “WordPress”. But I was not sure what it does exactly.

That’s when I had to learn what WordPress is all about.

And started learning WordPress in depth.
The annoyance has started to convert into love.

Q. What’s the most interesting project you have done to date in WordPress? What were your responsibilities?

Ans: It’s actually my own plugin. As I was saying I have an Elementor Addon bundle pack which I developed from scratch. It’s for a very broader audience. So it needed to be extremely polished and complete. It’s needed to meet an increasing amount of people’s needs.
That’s what leads me to learn WordPress from a different dimension.
It’s not just the coding, the communication, marketing, and everything else.

Maintaining the team, being one of them, dealing with customers, partners, affiliates are my sole responsibilities.

Q. Have you ever been to any WordPress meetups or WordCamps? Share your thoughts on WordPress Community.

Ans: I have been to WordCamp Singapore back in 2016.
I used to be one of the organizers in WordCamp, Dhaka in 2019.
WordPress community is evolving. They are very friendly and inspiring. People from different sectors now a days are learning WordPress. Either as Developer, Marketer, Writer or Photographer. It’s good to know people from different places, sectors and skillsets.

Q. How does your workstation look like? Can you send us a picture?

Ans: This is my Workstation from the Office. I do have a separate setting on my Home for my Freelancing work too.

Q. What interesting feature do you think you would like to see in WordPress and is currently missing?

Ans: A real drag and drop Page builder in the core. Gutenberg is good but It didn’t yet established itself as a solid page Builder.
I’d like WordPress to try a page Builder more like Elementor or so.
Also, as a Developer I’d be happy to see WordPress to move to Git instead of SVN as it’s easy to learn and have more resources available.

Q. Out of the current plugins and themes which one do you like the most and why?

Ans: I like Astra, OceanWP and Kadence Theme. They are light weight and easy to use.
In terms of plugins It’s quite hard to mention a few.

As a page builder Elementor has changed the game. I’m a big fan.
I personally use All-in-one Wp migration for backup and migration.
Wordfence for security.
Autoptimize for Styles/Scripts minification and combination.
Wp Super Cache/W3 Total Cache for caching and so on.

Q. Any awesome technology you want to share other than WordPress?

Ans: Jamstack. It’s going to gain some great popularity in near future for blazing fast Websites.

Q. Do you like/love what you currently do in WordPress?

Ans: I can not be more than happy with my Career where I’m now. The job satisfaction is incredible.

Q. Where do you find yourself after 5 years

Ans: Being a proud owner of a WordPress based Company. Being capable to help people get on their feet.

Q. Share something about your life other than work

Ans: I like to travel like everyone else. I want to see, experience different things.
Variation is beauty.
Love to eat/drink, watch movies and Tv series. Watching movies in Big screen is quite fascinating for me.
I have now been watching “Friends” for the 7th time.

I’m into Sports and Fitness too.
I used to play Cricket mostly.

Q. To whom you give credit for your success?

Ans: It’s hard to name a few. Fortunately, I got help from almost everyone around me.

Q. Can you give us some reference for whom we should conduct an interview next and why?

Ans: You might want to check Codeable experts. Can’t name anyone exclusively.

Q. How do you reward yourself?

Ans: I sometimes fulfill my desire no matter how expensive or illogical it seems to everyone else. That’s one of the ways I can remember.

Q. Any suggestion for WordPress beginners?

Ans: Start learning things the way it should be.

Start reading the WordPress’s developer docs.
That might not give you a quick boost but you’ll learn things properly.
Get yourself familiar with the WordPress community. That’s a good source of inspiration and learning materials too.

Patience is the key. No matter how quick or slow learner you are. You’ll learn some day.
This might take someone a day, 3 for you.
Try and fail, but don’t fail to try.
