Introduce yourself and your life before WordPress
Ans: Hi Sonnal, Thank you for having me here. I am very fond of technology. One fine day when I was 16, I became curious about how search engines provide relevant information for our searches, and I started exploring online. Eventually, I ended up blogging. When I started, I didn’t even know what I was doing. But every little thing I learned pushed me forward to explore more.
I started my first blog with Blogger.com and later shifted to WordPress. I call WordPress “magic” in the blogosphere.
Blogging doesn’t have to be burdensome. We just have to take the right path. This is precisely what I discovered on my journey, and I knew I had to share it with others.
And so, SiteReform.com was born.
The journey was really fun and extremely useful to me. There were super good phases and totally bad phases throughout the journey.
Q. How did you get to know about WordPress? Share if there is an interesting story
Ans: When I started blogging at 16, I had never even heard of WordPress. After a couple of months, I came to know that there was “magic” in the blogosphere. So, I started to research and learn more about it.
As I delved deeper into WordPress, I realized how amazing this platform was. I loved the endless possibilities it offered for customization and design. I found myself spending hours exploring different plugins and themes, trying to create the perfect website.
Now, years later, I still use WordPress every day, and it continues to amaze me with its versatility and user-friendly interface. Whenever someone asks me about WordPress, I tell them how it opened up a new world of possibilities.
Q. Have you ever been to any WordPress meetups or WordCamps? Share your thoughts on WordPress Community.
Ans: Yes, I have been fortunate enough to attend a few WordPress meetups. My first experience was at a local WordPress meetup in my hometown Durgapur. At that time, I was just starting with WordPress. I met other bloggers and designers, and we shared our experiences and insights on creating great websites using WordPress.
One of my favorite things about the WordPress community is the spirit of collaboration and generosity. People always share their knowledge, resources, and time to help others. Whether through online forums, social media, or in-person meetups, the WordPress community is always there to lend a helping hand.
Q. How does your workstation look like? Can you send us a picture?
Ans: I don’t have a picture of my current workstation to share with you ((it’s a bit of a mess at the moment)! However, I can describe it to you. It’s a simple setup consisting of a laptop, a mechanical keyboard, a webcam, and other components and accessories I need to do my work effectively.
Q. What interesting feature do you think you would like to see in WordPress and is currently missing?
Ans: Its versatility and wide range of features have always impressed me. However, there is one feature I would love to see added to WordPress: built-in A/B testing functionality.
I used third-party A/B testing tools in SiteReform, but it would be great if WordPress had this feature built-in. It would make it much easier for website owners to run experiments and make data-driven decisions about their site’s design and content.
Q. Out of the current plugins and themes, which one do you like the most and why?
Ans: As a user of WordPress for many years, I have tried countless plugins and themes, and my current favorite is the GeneratePress theme.
What I love about GeneratePress is its simplicity and ease of use. It’s a lightweight and fast-loading theme that offers a ton of customization options, making it easy to create a unique and professional-looking website without any coding knowledge. Plus, it’s SEO-friendly and mobile-responsive, both crucial for website success.
Along with GeneratePress, I use several plugins to enhance my site’s functionality, including RankMath, an all-in-one SEO plugin that offers keyword analysis, content optimization, and more. Additionally, I use the Webpage Analyzer SEO Tool Chrome extension to discover on-page SEO metadata.
Q. Do you like/love what you currently do in WordPress?
Ans: I absolutely love what I do with WordPress! As a blogger and website owner, WordPress has given me the power to create and customize my website to my heart’s content as a blogger and website owner.
Q. Where do you find yourself after 5 years?
Ans: I want to continue sharing my knowledge and experience with others through my blog SiteRefom.com, particularly beginners who may be just starting out on their journey. I believe that the power of WordPress lies in its accessibility and the community that surrounds it, and I want to be a part of that community, helping to grow and support it in any way I can.
Q. Share something about your life other than work
Ans: There’s so much more to life than work; I’m glad you asked!
I like to stay busy with a variety of activities. One of my passions is an open-source technology, and I was thrilled to be selected as a Google Summer of Code participant for the Fossology project in 2022. I’m proud to mentor other GSoC contributors for the same project this year.
Aside from technology, I’m also involved in several social initiatives. One of my recent highlights was being part of the organizing team for the Global Child Prodigy Awards 2022, held in Dubai. It was an incredible experience celebrating the achievements of young talents from all over the world.
Q. To whom do you give credit for your success?
Ans: I believe that success results from hard work and dedication, but it’s essential to acknowledge the people who have supported and motivated me. I would like to credit my parents, who have always encouraged me to pursue my passions and provided unwavering love and support.
I am also grateful to my mentor Prashant bhaiya, who has been a constant source of inspiration and guidance. His valuable advice and constructive criticism have helped me to grow and improve in my field.
In addition, I would like to give credit to my teachers, particularly my college HOD Professor Joydeep Banerjee sir, who have played a significant role in shaping my knowledge and skills. Their dedication and expertise have motivated me to strive for excellence in everything I do.
Overall, I am fortunate to have had such wonderful people who have contributed to my success in different ways, and I am grateful for their continued support and encouragement.
Q. How do you reward yourself?
Ans: As a self-motivated individual, I believe in setting goals and celebrating small achievements. When I reach a significant milestone, I reward myself with something that brings me joy, such as a bar of KitKat chocolate.
I also love to travel and explore new places. Here are some pictures:
Moreover, self-care is crucial, and I ensure to take breaks and engage in activities that help me relax and recharge, such as reading a book or going for a walk. I believe that taking care of myself is essential to my productivity and overall well-being.
Q. Any suggestions for WordPress beginners?
Ans: My biggest suggestion for beginners starting with WordPress is to always continue learning. New plugins, themes, and features are always being developed, so it’s important to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and updates.
I recommend exploring the WordPress community, attending WordCamps, joining online forums and groups, and connecting with other WordPress enthusiasts. This is a great way to learn from others, share ideas, and get answers to any questions you may have.
