I purchased the pro version of this theme and want to know if there have been any updates since version 1.0? My web security expert says there are some major issues with this theme after the site was attacked that an updated version might have addressed.

Themes are rarely the cause for hack unless and until some malicious scripts are used.
You didn’t have proper security in place which might be the reason for this. Normally many hosts which come under attack either put the blame on theme or on plugins so that they don’t get bothered.
