I recently purchased an updated version of theme “Adventure” (pro6.0) in order to be able to update our webserver to PHP 8.0. Sadly, as soon as we switch the PHP version to 8.0, our wordpress site isn’t working correct any longer. Only demo content of our Adventure theme is displayed and none of our customizations.

Could you please advise, how to fix this and if version pro6.0 is indeed the most current one?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi Dave, the URL is https://www.owkdieburg.de/

    Screenshots of our site here:

One screenshot shows the site under PHP 7.4 (working correctly) and one under PHP 8.0 (only showing demo content).

    Hi,

I think this is happening due to cache. Are you using the cache plugin? if yes.

Kindly clear your cache, browser cache first and check it.

    Regards,
    Dave

Hi Dave! Unfortunately, clearing my browser cache didn’t resolve the issue.

To avoid caching issues, we even have the “reBusted!” plugin in use, which should make sure that any updated files are reloaded from the server (thus circumventing the users’ browser cache). The issue I described above exists both with this plugin active and also when it is deactivated.

How else could this be resolved?

Hi Dave, please check if your mainbox has been compromised: Today, I received notification e-mails from our WordPress site telling me, that passwordes changes had been performed for all three of our WP Admin accounts. As none of our team has worked on the site today, it is possible that the admin account that I created for you earlier (user name “skt”) was used for this attack. I deleted that one after the incident.

When we last communicated in this thread, I didn’t hand over admin credentials for our cPanel for security concerns. Right now, I’m glad I didn’t…

Today, I upgraded the “Adventure” theme on our website with the most recent update (August 2023). Unfortunately, the issue described above persists: As soon as I switch the PHP version on our web server from 7.4 to 8.00 our website stops displaying our actual content and instead reverts to the sample content of “Adventure” theme.

Given the security incident I reported in May (see above), I don’t want to grant you admin rights again. Could you please give me a hint on how I can troubleshoot this myself? How would you check what’s going wrong? I understand that “Adventure” theme (v6.0) should already be compatible with PHP 8.0.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!
