Girly theme header background

Hi,
I added a background image to my page, but it does not extend from side to side. It leaves an empty space to both sides of the header image that’s black. How can this be changed so that the header bakcground image fills the whole area, please?

Kindly go to Appearance >> Theme Options >> Basic Settings >> Custom CSS Box:

Add this code there:

.header {background-repeat:repeat !important;}
