Home page shows up twice

I just purchased this template and started working on it but can’t seem to figure out how to prevent the Page titled home from repeating twice on the home page. Web address is – http://www.blackseageneralcontracting.com/. I was reading through forum and I inserted this code in – Appearance/Theme Options/Basic Settings – Then in Custom CSS I entered in the code below but it didn’t work –

.home .content-area { padding:0;}
.home .middle-align.content_sidebar { display:none;}

Also, when I go to Appearance then Customize i get an error – Internal Server Error – http://www.blackseageneralcontracting.com/wp-admin/customize.php?return=%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost.php%3Fpost%3D4%26action%3Dedit

How do I fix these two issues?
