I chose to use the plugin so as not to edit the php code:

1. Kindly edit skt-fitness-pro/inc/custom-functions.php and add below code at the bottom and try adding shortcode again.

// Enable shortcodes in text widgets
add_filter('widget_text','do_shortcode');

got it. you have to enable the text widget to use short code. Two ways to do it.

When I try this. It shows the short code on the page not the social icons? any ideas?
