I know you guys are super busy but any thoughts on why the page was “jiggling” would be appreciated.

It’s as if it were in some strange loading loop. Only on a phone browser though. Absolutely fine on a desktop/laptop. I didn’t check on a tablet but I’d assume it would have been the same as the phone.

Don’t waste time on this but if you have any thoughts as to why this might be, please share them 😉

    UPDATE!

I don’t know why and I may never know why BUT… on a whim, I changed the justification of the two images the client had placed on the page. They were placed centred and I set them to right justified. The page “jiggle” or “flicker” stopped. Now, this doesn’t really answer the question but it certainly solves the strange display problem on the phone browser.

I would still be keen to hear any thoughts on the original issue if it sounds familiar to anyone reading but for now, the client should be ok with the images moved to one side (I *HATE* centred objects on a page anyway!) and the page loading and displaying correctly.

    Thanks all!

    That’s a bummer, Dave.

As it stands, it’s _almost_ perfect in the way it works. As part of the standard WP setup in Settings > Reading (I still feel stupid for overlooking that), it displays the blog entries (Posts) just as it should but with that sidebar. When I remove it from the Settings > Reading it reverts to displaying just the first entry and it pulls that from the actual home page.

Not sure what to do now. Is there some way that I can force it to be a full-width page while still listed as the “Posts Page” in Settings > Reading? If that isn’t possible, just suppressing the sidebar on that page by some custom CSS code?

    Thanks as always!

    That did it Dave!

But, I had started editing the above post then was distracted and I forgot to save it. There is ONE MORE (I promise, this is it!) question that I can’t solve…

And now, we have a new one… #4 has popped its ugly head up…

    4. The “blog” or posts page also has an issue that I can’t figure out. I have set it to “Full Width” but it still displays the “Right Sidebar” which we have labeled “Latest News ” and we have a Facebook feed in it. I’d like to suppress it from that page but can’t find how. It doesn’t behave like other pages.

Your suggestions ALWAYS welcome and gratefully accepted ?

    Hi Dave

    1. Awesome stuff yet again. Of course I feel pretty stupid on #1 as I was searching through the theme options and then looking at CSS but I completely failed at WordPress 101 on this one. Note to self: always look at the standard WP stuff before looking for a hard way to do things!

    2. perfect… thank you

    3. Sadly, that didn’t work. There is still a place holder and large space above each post (blog entry), as you can see here:

Oh dear, I’ve done it again. Of course, “Full Width” instead of “Default” template.

Got it… no need to answer.

    Thank you!!!

    Actually… don’t answer that 😉

I actually got something right. Yeah, you can laugh but like I said Dave, I am old and slow 😀

HA, that works a treat but on all pages in the site 😀

The page identifier for the one I am trying this on is “post=2782″… how can I specify a particular page? Would it be:

    .page-id-2782 .header .nav{display:none !important;}

Sorry Dave, I’m a bit old and slow on this 😉

    HI Dave (et al)

Any page Dave… ie: I would like to be able to create a new page – Pages > Add New – and be able to remove the navigation (and possibly the footer) from that new page.

    Thanks

    Marc

PERFECT! That’s done precisely what I wanted it to do, remove the text grab from the page but leave the title in place.

Thank you VERY much for that Dave!
